by First News Reporter Monday, 30 June 2014
LONDON'S Tower Bridge is celebrating its 120th birthday today (30 June).
The famous bridge has become one of London's most famous landmarks.
The bridge was first opened on 30 June 1894 by the Prince of Wales, who later went on to become King Edward VII. It was thought to be one of the ‘greatest engineering triumphs of the Victorian age’ and took nearly eight years to build!
To mark the special birthday, people can visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition today for just £1.20 (120 pence). Each visitor will also receive a similar ticket to the original invite which was given out at the 1894 opening ceremony.
