90% of lemur species could become extinct

A NEW study claims that around 90% of lemur species could be under threat from extinction.
Lemurs are only found on the island of Madagascar. Data collected by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN) for their Red List found that lemurs are one of the most at risk groups. There are 101 species of lemur and 90 of them are threatened with extinction.

The main threat for lemurs is illegal logging, which means their forest homes are being cut down. Lemurs have become popular since the Madagascar films featured a group of lemurs ruled by their comical leader King Julien.
