The holidays are a time to give. These charities—and many more—are looking for volunteers and donations. Read on to learn more about them. Then, talk to your parents about how you can help.

American Red Cross
All you need is a pen and a piece of paper. The American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes Program is collecting handwritten cards to send to members of the U.S. Armed Forces during the holidays.

Network for Good
This unique website allows its users to donate to charities and discover volunteerism.

Make-A-Wish Foundation
Sometimes all it takes is one wish granted to make someone smile. The mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Toys For Tots
Each year, the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys for the holidays. The toys collected are given as gifts to needy children so they can experience the joy of Christmas.

World Wildlife Fund
The World Wildlife is helping to protect endangered species through the Symbolic Species Adoption program. Those who “adopt” an animal will receive an adoption certificate and photo of their species. Anyone can support endangered species year round by buying WWF apparel.
